'Remote Control', a new exhibition by Berlin-based artist Carina Brandes is on view at at Team Bungalow, Venice, California through October 23, 2016. This is the artist’s third solo show with the gallery.'Remote Control' features a collection of black and white photographs. Brandes’s use of the camera’s self-timer is a critical aspect of her work - both theoretically and practically it allows her to participate in her own performances and also appear in her own photographs. Her technique allows the subjects to appear to the viewer as they would in privacy, granting them unlimited access to the strange and intimate events.The subjects, usually animals and young women, frequently the artist herself, are with few exceptions, nude and simple, engaged in inscrutably ceremonial performances.The exhibition is on view at Team (bungalow), 306 Windward Avenue Venice Ca 90291.
