‘Ng Eng Teng: 1+1=1’ at NET Gallery, Singapore

NET Gallery, NUS Museum reveals their new permanent exhibition "Ng Eng Teng: 1+1=1" at the gallery’s venue in Singapore.This exhibition reveals a collection of previously unstudied works from the artist Ng Eng Teng. This exhibition seeks to explore and reveal the artist’s interest in the multiplicities of humanities and human identity. Teng is a central figure in the local art history and is widely known for his sculptural practices and this exhibition focuses on the geometrical sculptural series by the artist that is yet to receive critical attention. The works displayed here consists of some of the most experimental pieces by the artist. The series 1+1=1 features geometric frames that range from the mediums of aluminum, brass, steel, stoneware to ciment fondu. Each work of this series features a consistent diagonal line that runs across the frame and a potentially shifting orientation of display, left largely un-dictated by the artist.Ng Eng Teng is one of the most prolific artists in Singapore and has worked across multiple disciplines including ceramics, painting, sculpture, and drawing. He dealt with a variety of themes that included human figures and condition, politics and global currents.
