Mariana Palma's solo exhibition is on view at Casa Triangulo, Sao Paulo.Featuring never-seen-before paintings, photographs and watercolors, the exhibition brings us themes and references that are particular to the artist, suggesting at the same time new unfoldings. It is accompanied by a strong text by Paulo Miyada. This most recent body of art work according to the critics, intensifiesthe artist’s need for a singular pictorial space, and this is traced by the simultaneous presence of aqueous surfaces of textures and imbrications of half complete ethereal figures and objects. This is because of the process of painting itself. Mariana commences her works by dipping the canvases in water covered by pigments, in a process quite similar to the marbling of paper. Using that, she then creates patterns intricate by colors, lines and dots, upon which she painstakingly paints slices of patterned fabrics, architectural elements and plants. Thus, with deep colors and a large amount of visual stimuli, the paintings aim to seduce the eye and establish with the viewer relationships of fascination, repulse, identification, and estrangement. With regards to the photographs, Mariana returns with the concept of the assembling of plants in varying stages of decomposition and artificial elements made of plastic. The results are, according to Miyada, the creation of hybrids, a lot of the times evoking some kind of copula. The exhibition is on view through November 4, 2017 at Casa Triangulo, Sao Paulo, R. Estados Unidos, 1324 - Jardins, São Paulo - SP, 01427-001, Brazil. For details, visit, http://www.casatriangulo.comClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
