Kvalitář Gallery, Prague presents “5KV,” a selection of exhibits from the past as well as the present, which showcases how design has influenced art and art and influenced design in return. “5KV” asks the important question of whether it is necessary to distinguish between art and design? Its intention is nothing more than to confuse viewers to so that they can form their own concensus on what constitutes both these genres. It describes reality through firm examples of artistic expression and helps onen a platform for further discussion. The exhibition is scheduled to be divided into two vital parts; the first, will present the works of artists who bring the two disciplines - art and design - together in various ways. Be it theoretically, visually, and/or through operational aspects. The second part of the exhibition will include specific example cited from history. The focus of which will be on dialogue between Alessandro Mendini and Milan Knížák.Alessandro Mendini, a renowned Italian designer and member of the Alchimia group, visited Prague in the 1980s, with the intension to contact Milan Knížák, but unfortunately never got the opportunity to meet him. Their mutual confrontation contemplates the many principles and circumstances that make specific artistic production to be designated as art or design. The exhibition is on view through November 22, 2017, at the Kvalitář Gallery, Prague, Senovážné náměstí 17, Prague, Czech Republic, noted Domus.
