Running until early April 2018 is a new exhibition by Farah Atassi. Contrasting two disciplines and posing questions, the exhibition is being displayed at the Michel Rein gallery in Brussels.Artist Farah Atassi’s work is the meeting of two disciplines, that of architecture and that of the art object but also of two notions often presented as antithetic: modernism and the ornament. Farah Atassi manages to practice an art about art, an art after art, which is never loquacious, which transcends its benchmarks while showing some disturbing and unusual settings.Farah Atassi's pictorial scenographies intend to keep at least part of their secret. Born in Belgium from Syrian parents and raised in France, Atassi combines various cultural legacies and formal approaches in the medium that she loves most: painting. In these works, the artist tries to evoke an illicit consciousness about space. In a way, it is a contradiction, since she’s using various effects to create depth and on the other hand, make the viewer aware of the flat surface. The exhibition is on view through April 7, 2018, at Michel Rein Brussels, Washington rue/straat 51A 1050 Brussels Belgium. For details, visit: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/galerie-michel-rein/overviewClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the artworks.
