Her work has been exhibited at The Painting Center (NY), Braddock’s Unsmoke Systems, and The Brew House, among other venues. Her painting is in the permanent collection of The Hoyt Art Institute, and many private collections. Speaking on her work, the artist said, “Themes that influence my work: gesture, touch and the haptic experience of making marks, the interconnectivity of theory, history and practice, distorting hierarchy, and ideas about time and the view.”Bowery Gallery was originally founded by 23 young artists who first met through their professors, neighborhoods and various drawing classes. There was also a gathering called the Alliance of Figurative Artists, which took place for every Friday night on East Broadway, recalled original Bowery Gallery member Anthony Santuoso. The Jewish organization that owned the building, which was called the Educational Alliance, let the artists use the space for free. There would be dialogues, discussions, panels and critique of work, which would sometimes get very savage. The Bowery Gallery was an outgrowth of those meetings, and several members said that Lawrence Faden was the catalyst, the connector who got the group together to found Bowery Gallery in 1969. The artists had to patch up and paint the walls, put in lights and install a floor. Several of them were working in construction while they pursued art. Today, the gallery presents various artists through a range of exhibitions. Artists represented by the gallery include: Martha Armstrong, Kamini Avril, Rita Baragona, Temma Bell, Monica Bernier and many others. The exhibition will be on view through July 28, 2018, at Bowery Gallery, 530 W 25th St #404, New York, NY 10001, USA.For details visit: http://www.bowerygallery.orgClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.http://www.blouinartinfo.com                            Founder: Louise Blouin
